"The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity greatly appreciates the generous £10,000 donation from The Grace Trust towards the Triggers service at The Royal Marsden. Triggers helps the hospital to deliver earlier palliative care intervention to the most vulnerable cancer patients using a series of determinant tools known as ‘triggers’, to recognise those who should be eligible for palliative care sooner than standard practice. This innovative work is helping to demonstrate that earlier referrals to palliative care can result in significant benefits for cancer patients, including improving their quality of life and ability to safely continue with their treatments. The high-level of care and support that the team can deliver, alongside their ground-breaking research, is impacting the way palliative care is understood and implemented worldwide, giving more patients an improved quality of life. With the support of The Grace Trust, we will be able to continue bringing earlier palliative care to patients who need it most, whilst also proving the effectiveness of this way of working.
